I'm still figuring out the new camera and how it works with light. I took several shots of my dining room window treatments and some roses T sent me on Monday. (Guys, that's the way to apologize!) All of these were taken with natural light and no flash.

I LOVE the window treatment shots!
Your roses are lovely :)
Steph, you are really doing some great stuff.
I completely agree about light. But sometimes you need filler, additional light or long exposure is too hard.
Here's my trick when I don't have the ability to carry my diffuser and reflector with me (HA HA HA even though I have the foldup portable one that I LOVE...still not THAT portable on a daily basis): tissue paper.
If you apply one thin layer of tissue paper over the flash it softens the flash and acts like a diffuser.
You can of course tinker with white and all that in the camera settings, but TBH after a bunch of trials, I prefer tissue paper.
Depending upon the effect you are going for, you can alter the shade. It's pretty cool.
For people and for the most part I use white.
Give it a shot. Let me know what you think.
If you pester me I can show you some tissue'd shots I took only today.
